This is part 2 of our "Summer Transition Post" and in this part I have compiled for you 5 ways to easily take care of your skin during summer time.
1-START HYDRATING YOUR HAIR:
Before you head to the first beach weekend start hydrating your hair early with a restorative mask rich in wheat protein, which forms a protective film around hair. Natural oils are of great benefits for the hair, like shea butter and coconut oil. Also argan oil which is often called ‘liquid gold’ for its amazing qualities. Argan oil is an organic product extracted from the kernels of the argan tree, which is native to Morocco. It is extremely rich in beneficial nutrients including fatty acids and vitamin E.
Argan oil is proven to make hair softer, silkier and shinier, it is the ideal hair conditioner, and it can even help to treat split ends and tame frizzy hair. Argan oil is non-irritating and actually reverses much of the damage done by artificial chemicals and treatments on hair.
2-EYES AND MOUTH:
There are some areas of the face that do need a bit more pampering and the eyes and mouth are the top two areas. These are the spots of the face that have the most delicate skin. A simple way to protect, heal and enrich those places is to use lotions serums and natural oils like coconut oil and sweet almond oil for under the eyes. While, natural lip balms made out of shea butter, cocoa butter and beeswax are highly recommended for the lips. These ingredients are designed to help keep those areas smooth and soft without harming the delicate skin.
3-EXFOLIATE YOUR LIPS:
Exfoliating lips becomes necessary when lips become chapped or discolored and this increases towards the summer time. There are various reasons for dry chapped lips, out of which very cold and very hot weather . Other reasons for chapped lips include, smoking, over-exposure to sun, dehydration, breathing with an open mouth etc. The major reason for discoloration of lips is excessive smoking. Over exposure to sun or frequent intake of coffee or tea can also cause discoloration. Exfoliating lips helps overcome such dilemmas and bring back healthy looking lips.
Pair a soft toothbrush with a lip scrub. You can make your own lip scrub at home by mixing bicarbonate soda with a small amount of water to create a paste, or try brown sugar mixed with coconut oil. Apply your chosen scrub onto your lips or the toothbrush, then with your toothbrush use a circular motion to firmly, but not roughly exfoliate your lips. A good scrub will contain moisturizing as well as exfoliating agents so let the scrub absorb into your lips by leaving on for a minute or so. Use a damp wash cloth to wash off.
We all forget to look after our feet through winter after stuffing it into socks and boots, it is hardly taken care of all season long. So we suggest you start on pampering your feet for the summer and indulge it into the nutrients it has been lacking.
Limit walking barefoot as it exposes feet to sunburn and other infections.
Remember to apply sunscreen all over your feet.
Stay hydrated by drinking at least 3 liters of water per day; it minimizes dry skin
Keep the blood flowing with periodic ankle flexes, toe wiggles, and calf stretches.
Shea butter can play a major role in taking care of chapped and neglected feet. Apply one teaspoon of shea butter to a tub of warm water after scrubbing your feet and soak your feet in it for 10 minutes. After that pat your feet dry with a towel. Then apply little amount of the shea butter on your feet thoroughly to keep it smooth and moisturized.
You can also use coconut oil. This oil has the ability to moisturise dry, rough skin. It nurtures skin cells and removes impurities in the skin. Leave it overnight and wear cotton socks and you will wake up with soft, beautiful feet.
Water plays a vital role in digestion, blood circulation, absorption of nutrients and the elimination of toxins. It has an important role in all the functions of your body’s organs, including the skin. Just like all other organs, the skin is made up of cells that require water to function. When your skin cells aren't sufficiently hydrated, the appearance of your skin suffers, making you look older than you really are.
If your skin is not getting the sufficient amount of water, the lack of hydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, pale and flaky. Dry skin has less elasticity and is more prone to wrinkling.
That may be because water plumps up the skin, causing wrinkles and pores to, more or less, get filled in. In addition, a variety of structures in the skin that support collagen require water to work effectively, says Julius Few, M.D., director of The Few Institute and a clinical professor of plastic surgery at the University of Chicago. When skin is hydrated, plump, and elastic, it is less likely to crack and let in external particles that can cause irritations and blemishes.
Give your skin a steady flow of water: Every day, aim for at least 3 liters of water, and spread them out throughout the day as opposed to guzzling them all at once. Your body can only absorb a specific amount of water each hour.
During summer make sure to fill your body with plenty of SPF, Anti-oxidants and water. Use natural products as much as you can to maintain a healthy look.
