SEASONALITY: A KEY BEAUTY TREND| 4 easy steps to transition your skin to summer

AS THE SUN RISES, SO SHALL YOUR SKIN CARE REGIME!
Summer breeze, salt water and sun tans; are what we all long for after a gloomy cold winter season, but is our skin ready? A large part of our skin is covered up with layers of warm clothes all winter long, and shortly we will be exposing much of that to the sun/sea mixture. As winter leaves our skin dry and pale, we need to get it ready for this transitional season. So here are some tips on how to ease your skin through summer.
1- CLEANSE AND MOISTURIZE – TWICE!
Regardless of the season; this skin care regime is a must do for healthy and glowing skin. Cleansing and moisturizing your face and neck in the morning and night is essential no matter what time of the year it is.

It is recommended to wash your face every morning and at night before going to bed. This is important because at night people tend to sweat which creates a good medium for bacteria to grow and to act on skin. In addition, oil builds up during those night hours that can result in out breaks, black heads and non-radiant skin if not removed properly.
Moreover, make sure you remove all makeup before you sleep, for, if makeup stays on your skin during the night, it causes pores to become blocked and develop blackheads and premature aging of the skin.
Cleansing your skin before applying any skin care product is also essential to make sure that the skin pores are clean and dirt and oil free. This makes the skin ready to absorb the applied skin care product and utilize it in the best way.

Natural soap and glycerin based soap are great saviors in this case, not only they will cleanse but also retain the moisture in the skin. Natural soap is a great acne treatment as well.
Now your skin is ready for moisturizing! You should at least moisturize your skin twice a day with a morning and night cream.

During the morning the skin is more prone to pollution, sun and makeup and therefore it is vital to protect our skin with a light lotion, cream or even a primer that contains SPF.
Nighttime is when the skin does all the recovering, regeneration and lifting while we are sleeping. Hence, night creams are more heavy and rich and are normally intended to be absorbed over long hours to provide the skin with the nutrients that it thrives for.
Note: Always use natural skin care formulas as they enrich your skin without adding harmful substances that cause long term damages.
2-EXFOLIATE
Experts say the best way to get your skin ready for summer is with regular exfoliation!

This gets rid of dead, dry skin cells to prevent congestion and improve hydration from toners and moisturizers. Exfoliate two to three times per week in the mornings prior to toner, moisturizer, SPF and make-up application.
3-APPLY ENOUGH SUNSCREEN
There are a lot of things you can do to make your skin look good, healthy and younger, but the most important thing is sun protection! Sunscreens are vital for anyone during the summer, as the skin will be exposed to intense UV radiations for long periods of time. Sunscreens range in SPF values from 15 all the way up to 100. The higher the number the more sun protection.

Sunscreens are normally applied in the form of morning creams with high SPF values that stay effective for long hours. However, Lower value SPF creams need to be reapplied every two hours.
Sunscreens must be applied generously. Put on enough to cover your entire body. Apply it before you reach the beach or outdoors by sometimes as it takes 15 to 20 minutes to kick into high gear. Reapply it frequently. Remember that it only lasts for about two hours. And don't forget your scars. The sun can lighten or darken scars so make sure to be extra careful and use an SPF of 30 or higher on those parts.
The best natural oils for sunscreen are red raspberry seed oil with SPF ranging from 28 – 50, and carrot oil with SPF 38 – 40. Other natural oils with lower SPF factors are coconut oil, oil olive, shea butter, almond oil and jojoba oil. These oils contain SPF factors less than 10.
4-TREAT SUN DAMAGE
UV light causes photo-aging in the form of brown spots, coarse skin and wrinkles; whether you have burned your skin or not. When sunlight comes in contact with skin, a cascade of damage results; causing inflammation, production of reactive oxygen molecules that affect healthy cell growth, and stimulation of collagen destruction.

As a result, keep showering your skin with nourishing ingredients to help undo any damage that may occur, and to further protect it from the aging effects of UV.
